Hi, I have a 58/59 Mk7 Fiesta Zetec. On occasions I'm getting a squeaky / creaky sound when I move the gear lever from 1st to 2nd, or 3rd to 4th or 3rd to 2nd - ie any downward movement. I'm pretty sure all it needs is a bit grease, lubricant or WD40 around the mechanics, but I need to remove the

My uneducated guess, the Gear box is dead - at what near 120k Miles. But, linkage to lever external open up cover and get someone to move it.. see what it does. probaly moves all about. Maybe time for a new; Crankcase seal, 3 piece clutch kit and a gearbox.

291 posts 路 Joined 2017. #1 路 Jan 8, 2021. Hello all, So after 141k miles the gearbox is finally giving up and is making it hard to change gear when warm and a noise on the overrun. A near perfect rebuild is up to 拢800, maybe can get it done cheaper and though my old clutch is 30k miles old, guess it best to put a new 2 part kit in as well.
Occasionaly when selecting first gear, I will lift the clutch and the car will feel as if it is in third gear. Reselecting first gear a few times normally solves the problem. Also, when slowing down, say on approach to a roundabout, I will select second gear and the car will actually feel as if it is in fourth gear.

I have a 2006 Fiesta Durashift transmission that shows transmission failure when you turn it on. Below is an exploded diagram of the selector mechanism in the gearbox item 9 is the reverse and 5th gear selector shaft. Item 2 is the gate mechanism this is bolted to the interior of the gearbox housing. Once removed the gearbox requires dismantling, a special tool is required for this to be able to remove the 5th gear.
